Premier Analysis (PA) On Fast Track With CMMI Implementation Schedule
The following is an excerpt from the Navy Mentor-Protégé Program Newsletter, Vol. 1 Iss. 1.
After receiving the notice to proceed from the Navy on November 2, 2005, Premier Analysis’ Mentor; Unified Industries Incorporated (UII) M-PP Program Manager Dr. Jon Ferrante made arrangements with Wallace Johnson who heads the George Mason University PTAP CMMI M-PP support staff to provide PA’s executive staff CMMI orientation training on November 16, 2005.
PA’s CEO/President;
Linda Jackson designated Marc DiNick as the lead management representative
to implement CMMI process controls as standard operating procedures for
PA’s information technology services and products. GMU PTAP’s CMMI subject
matter experts and facilitators are Deborah Hunt and Jennifer Washington of iPower, LLC.
With a tremendous amount of work and encouragement and support from Ms. Jackson, the PA/GMU-PTAP CMMI team completed the baseline assessment on December 22, 2005.
The original estimated schedule for completion of the executive training, team formation and the base line assessment by GMU-PTAP in the agreement was seventy (70) days. PA and GMU-PTAP completed this task in about 50 calendar days.
The PA/GMU CMMI implementation team meets weekly to review progress. Three PA IT projects have been selected as candidates for CMMI process improvements. Required CMMI process area specific and generic practices documentation requirements have been identified and are in the progress of being developed as the second phase of CMMI implementation moves on well ahead of schedule.
Linda Jackson is very appreciative of the opportunity to participate in the DoD M-PP as a Protégé to Mentor UII and believes that Navy support for her program has been excellent and very well administered by the Navy SADBU. She has been willing to commit additional overhead to the success of the initiative and believes that dedication, accuracy, perseverance, hard work and adherence to process improvement are the leadership principles and driving factors that have contributed to her exemplary success in the CMMI process improvement program.
